Bladder

Bladder

Vejiga

The Bladder in Traditional Chinese Medicine stores and excretes urine.

  • Transforms fluids to produce urine.

Energetic functions

  • Eliminates fluids through the transformation of Qi.
  • Its peak energy is from 3 to 5 in the afternoon.

Fluid elimination

The pure part of the fluids, resulting from the separation made by the Small Intestine, reaches the Bladder.

  • The Bladder takes this pure fluid and transforms it into urine.
  • This separation requires Qi and heat from Kidney-Yang.
  • The fire of the Gate of Life (Ming Men) is what provides the heat necessary for the Bladder to transform and produce urine.

Small Intestine and Bladder

They work together moving fluids in the Lower Burner.

  • The Bladder receives the pure part of the fluids coming from the Small Intestine.

According to G. Maciocia, the point SI-2 is often used in urinary pathologies.

Heart and Bladder

The Qi of Heart needs to descend to the Small Intestine and Bladder to help in the excretion of urine.

  • The Divergent channel of Bladder passes through the Heart.
  • Urinary pathologies, such as blood in urine, can be transmitted from the Heart to the Bladder through the Small Intestine.

Lung and Bladder

The Lung is related to the Bladder through the Kidneys.

  • The Lung-Qi descends to the Kidneys, stimulating the transformation of fluids and the excretion of urine.

Psycho-emotional functions

The Bladder in its Yin - Yang relationship is paired with the Kidneys and the Water element.

Negative emotions such as jealousy, resentment, guilt, distrust or grudge are symptoms of lack of "root" in life.

Exterior-Interior relationship with Kidney

Bladder and Kidney are closely related.

  • The Bladder obtains heat and Qi from Kidney-Yang and the Gate of Life.
  • Thanks to this heat and Qi it can transform fluids into urine.

The Kidneys depend on the Bladder to excrete some of their impure fluids.
