The cause is normally excessive reflection, mental activity, worry. Example: student during exam periods, with nervousness and lack of concentration. Excessive reflection exhausts Heart-Blood. Spleen depleted, cannot transform and nourish the blood that nourishes the Heart. Heart (Fire) produces Spleen (Earth), so the weakness of one affects the other. Symptoms:

  • Palpitations
  • Insomnia
  • Abundant dreams
  • Poor concentration, poor memory
  • Tendency to be worried and restless
  • Poor appetite
  • Physical and mental fatigue
  • Abdominal Distension
  • Loose stools
  • Subcutaneous ecchymosis
  • Irregular menstruation, profuse and pale menses, metrorrhagia, scanty menses or Amenorrhoea
  • Pale tongue with white coating
  • Fine and weak pulse
