In the West, almost all people with epilepsy are under treatment with antiepileptic drugs. There is a percentage of people who do not respond effectively to treatment. If the person is doing well with their medical treatment, it is not a good idea to treat them to have the medication withdrawn without the consent of the neurologist.

Epilepsy can be treated with acupuncture to reduce the intensity and frequency of seizures.
