Comments
- LU-5 is a He-Sea Point on the Lung Channel and its main function is to descend Lung-Qi and clear Heat from the Lungs whether from excess or deficiency.
- The 'Elbow Marsh' refers to Dampness in the Lungs in two aspects, its nourishment and the production of pathological aspects.
- The Kidneys receive the beneficial moisture that is produced at the Lung level thanks to the descending action of Lung-Qi. In the Ling Shu and the Nan Jing they mention the "foot" position of the radial pulse as the area where the Kidneys and Lower Burner manifest; this area encompasses the pathway between point LU-7 and LU-5. This beneficial moisture connects the Upper Burner with the Lower, the beneficial fluids descend and cool the excess of heat thanks to the water cycles of the Triple Burner.
- LU-5 is also the 'Drainage Point' of the channel. When the transformation of fluids and their movement by the Triple Burner stagnates, it results in accumulation of fluids like mucus, dampness and phlegm that generate heat in the long run, this stagnant condition can be drained thanks to the 'Elbow Marsh'.
- Chi Ze is part of the so-called Ghost Points, these are used for mental pathologies and external wind conditions.
