Excessive Intake

Excessive Intake

Eating too much food and at inappropriate times (for example: at night, when we don't have enough energy to transform food into energy) overloads the digestive system and in the long term weakens Spleen-Qi and Stomach-Qi. The ability to extract nutrients from food worsens and vitality decreases.

Too much food in the stomach expands it, and causes that when we eat again we don't feel full until we eat again in large quantities, perpetuating the bad habit. The accumulation of food in the digestive system generates heat. Heat in the Stomach has excessive appetite as a symptom.

Overeating also happens when we don't eat out of hunger but to palliate emotional dissatisfaction (boredom, sadness, emotional deficiencies). There are foods that also generate addiction (sweets, sugars, fats).

Eating at inappropriate times sometimes also happens due to work schedules that make us arrive home late, or working at night, for example.

An overly full stomach takes longer to digest and it can feel uncomfortable: heavy digestion, abdominal bloating, drowsiness after eating. Insomnia.

This excess of food will also overload the intestines: constipation, gas.

It is necessary to have a good breakfast in the morning: Stomach and Spleen are in fullness of energy from 7 to 11 in the morning and with less energy from 7pm to 11pm, eating adequate amounts and trying to eat little and early at dinner. Such a habit change can be difficult at the beginning for some but it results in better vitality.
