In clinical practice it is useful to have clear understanding when a symptom belongs to Yin or Yang.
- Yin Symptoms: Relationship with cold, passivity, dampness, night...
- Yang Symptoms: Relationship with heat, hyperactivity, dryness, day...
No disease is purely Yin or Yang; these are always relative and as therapists we must be careful not to fall into reductionism. It is necessary to understand the body as a whole and to be able to observe symptoms as part of that whole.
