Headache Due to Tan-Dampness Accumulation

Headache due to accumulation of dampness or phlegm is a mild headache with a feeling of heaviness. The sensation is like wearing a helmet or weight on the forehead.

Normally the dampness is formed by Spleen-Qi deficiency that does not perform well the function of transportation and transformation. Even so, it is considered a fullness-type headache, because it is an accumulation, an excess of phlegm that obstructs circulation in the head.

Characteristics

  • Chronic, mild pain with a feeling of heaviness, as if wearing a helmet.
  • Affects the Yang Ming area (forehead).
  • Pain improves with heat.
  • Symptoms of Spleen-Qi deficiency: General heaviness, bloated abdomen, poor appetite, pasty stools, tiredness.
  • Swollen tongue with teeth marks, thick coating
  • Slippery pulse


Treatment

Eliminate phlegm and dampness, strengthen Spleen.
