There are twelve Mu points and they belong to the Zang-Fu. This is where their energy concentrates and they are not always bilateral. The Mu points of C, V, ID, E, MC are on Ren Mai, on the midline.
Characteristics
- They are found in the thoracic/abdominal region.
- The Shu Points serve to "inflate" the front part (chest, belly). They tend to tonify in cases of emptiness.
- The Mu Points serve to "deflate" the front part. They mainly treat Fu (bowels) and fullness symptoms.
NB: Back Shu + Mu can be used when an organ has both emptiness and fullness (e.g., Spleen-Qi deficiency with Dampness accumulation). Shu-Mu technique.
