Comments
- A "Supreme Abyss" is a place from which all things spring forth and to which they must return. In this sense we refer to two aspects: (1) the circulation of Yuan Qi from the Ming Men to the center of the chest; (2) the energetic circulation that begins in the Lung Channel and ends in the Liver Channel.
- Yuan Qi emerges in the space called Ming Men and ascends to reach the point Shan Zhong through the extraordinary channels Ren Mai and Chong Mai to subsequently flow to the joints where it emerges at the Yuan Points including LU-9.
- The Lungs and Bladder are related through the Triple Burner fluid cycle; The Lungs are the root of this cycle that from above disperse and descend fluids, through the pores and Wei Qi and through the Bladder from where they exit the body. This unites TaiYaun with CV-3, the Mu point of the bladder, a synergy that is often used for urinary problems such as hematuria or incontinence.
- LU-9 is the Yuan point of the Lung Channel, it is the space where Source Qi flows outward through the Triple Burner from Ming Men to the main channels. The functions of this point are in congruence with this elevation of Yuan Qi to the center of the chest where Zong Qi is formed thanks to the interaction of respiration, heartbeat and Yuan Qi in the center of the chest; then, the relationship between LU-9, the genesis of "useful" Qi that moves blood is obvious.
Conclusion
The actions of this point are grouped into four groups:
- Tonifies the Lungs and transforms phlegm.
- Stimulates the Lung Qi descending function.
- Regulates and harmonizes the hundred vessels.
- Activates the channel and relieves pain.
