Functions
- Onset of cold: nasal congestion, absence of sweating, headache...
- Eye pain and swelling, at the inner canthus (distal point of BL-1): there is a "knot" in the eyes (for example, a hematoma) and it unravels by stretching the root which is BL-67.
- Regulate foot temperature. Cold feet: moxibustion. Very hot foot, with swelling and heat in the sole + KI-1
- To turn the fetus in the case of breech presentation. Ideally perform treatment between weeks 33 and 36 of pregnancy. Moxibustion for 7 consecutive days, for 3-5 minutes on each foot several times totaling about 20 minutes per day. Moxibustion with pecking technique in the case of moxa stick or with direct moxibustion rice grain.
Comments
- Normally this point is avoided in pregnant women except to induce labor or moxibustion is used for fetal turning.
- To induce labor, tonify together with LI-4, BL-60, SP-6, GB-21 and LR-4.
- There are acupuncturists who prefer to perform acupuncture to induce labor in the hospital, with ultrasound, to verify that there is no problem with the baby's cord. If not under these conditions, they prefer not to take the risk.
Treatment
- Needling: 0.1 CUN. Caution in pregnant women, do not needle except as indicated above.
