It is a reflux of Stomach-Qi.
Cold invasion
It can be from climatic cold or food (excess of cold, raw, frozen foods...).
- Symptoms
- Acute vomiting, right after exposure to cold
- Intense pain
- Sensation of fullness, swelling in epigastrium
- Cold
- There may be fever
- Pink tongue with thin or thick coating
- Tense pulse
- Treatment
Eliminate cold and warm Stomach (moxibustion)
Food excess
Indigestion, has eaten too much.
- Occasional vomiting, 15-30 min after eating. Afterwards feels better.
- Belching. Foul and sour smell.
- Abdominal distension.
- Normal tongue, thick coating
- Slippery pulse

Accelerate digestion
Accumulation of Phlegm and Yin
Qi deficiency of Spleen generates Dampness.
- Chronic vomiting, with phlegm, saliva and quite a lot of liquid.
- Cough with phlegm
- Normal or pale tongue. Swollen. Thick coating.
- Slippery pulse
- Treatment
Eliminate Phlegm and Yin. Tonify Spleen.
Liver-Qi stagnation invading Stomach
Emotional cause
- Acute and strong vomiting associated with nervousness and stress
- Oppression of chest
- Discomfort in hypochondrium
- There may be bile in the vomit
- Normal tongue, thin coating
- Tense pulse

Unblock Liver-Qi and harmonize Stomach
Spleen-Stomach Yang deficiency
- Mild, chronic vomiting. Small quantity and with undigested food.
- Abdominal distension
- Tiredness
- Pasty stools
- Swollen tongue with teeth marks. Thin or thick coating
- Fine, weak pulse
- Treatment
Tonify Spleen-Stomach (can use moxibustion)
- BL-20, BL-21, CV-13, SP-6
- CV-12, ST-36, PC-6, SP-4
- You can use a small piece of Ginger in CV-8 and CV-12 for chronic or motion vomiting (car, boat...)
Pregnancy
It is related to reflux of Chong Mai. SP-4+PC-6. Auriculotherapy works well: Stomach, Cardia.
- Remember the forbidden points in pregnancy!!
- Avoid: SP-6; BL-60; BL-67; GB-21; LR-3; LI-4; sacral holes (31-34V).
- Avoid points on the abdomen below the umbilicus throughout pregnancy.
- Avoid points on the abdomen above the umbilicus after the 3rd month of pregnancy.
Chemotherapy
Vomiting from chemotherapy is associated with Yin and Yang deficiency of Kidney and Spleen.
