The Pericardium Meridian is the Jue Yin of the Hand.

Internal pathway

The Pericardium Meridian originates in the center of the chest, between the two nipples. At the level of CV-17 but inside the thorax. It divides into 2 branches.

  • One branch descends and crosses the diaphragm, descends into the abdomen and branches into the three burners. Interior-Exterior relationship with the Triple Burner or San Jiao.
  • The branch that becomes external heads outward, following the fourth intercostal space.

External pathway

The meridian becomes external at PC-1, near the nipple. It heads toward the axilla, descends along the middle of the internal face of the arm, reaches the elbow crease (PC-3) on the ulnar side of the biceps brachii tendon. It descends along the center of the Yin face of the forearm, between the two palmar tendons, crosses the wrist and reaches the tip of the middle finger.

  • Collateral branch: exits from the center of the palm of the hand (PC-8). It heads to the ring finger to join with the Triple Burner meridian.
