It is the uncomfortable sensation of feeling one's own heartbeats. Associated with restlessness and nervousness. It affects the Heart, and always indicates deficiency (although there are cases that are a mix of excess and deficiency).
Heart-Qi and Gall Bladder deficiency

- Fearful, indecisive, shy person, gets scared easily.
- Palpitations associated with fright or startle.
- Tachycardia in attacks. Normal frequency or bradycardia at rest.

Related to angina pectoris, myocardial infarction. The cause is Heart-Yang deficiency.

Take to Emergency in acute cases. Tonify Heart-Yang and move Blood.
Accumulation of fluids in the Heart
Heart failure. It is a mix of excess (from accumulation) and deficiency (there is no correct distribution of fluids, lacking energy for it).
