Knee pain. Limitation of flexion, extension and rotation.
Causes
- Attack of wind, cold, dampness: Pain with swelling and cold, that is relieved with heat. Moxibustion GV-4, GV-14, GV-3 and local points
- Trauma: Very intense pain, fixed, worse at night (Blood stasis), or swollen and hot (Heat Bi Syndrome). BL-17 and Ashi points.
- Wear and tear: Chronic, mild pain. Osteoarthritis. Difficulty starting, improves after moving for a while, if walks a lot then it hurts more. It is usually related to Kidney and Liver deficiency. BL-18, BL-23, CV-6.

Treatment
Distal points: BL-11, GB-39. There is a point according to Master Tung's acupuncture on the opposite shoulder, on the deltoid.
Local points:
- SP-9, LR-7, GB-34, ST-36, Xin Yan, ST-35.
- SP-10, ST-34, He Ding
- BL-40, BL-55, BL-56, BL-39
- KI-10, KI-7, KI-3
- Xi Xia (above the patellar tendon)
Use a lot of heated needle, except in the case of Heat Bi, for which we will use cupping.
Cupping bloodletting at a very tender point on palpation in the interscapular region, the height between BL-13 and BL-16, on the same side as the affected knee, is effective for chronic degenerative knee pain.
