Causes

Of internal origin

  • Deficiency of Qi or Yang, it lacks the impulse to move
  • Deficiency of Blood, it lacks fluidity, liquid, it thickens and circulates with more difficulty.
  • Obstructions from Qi stagnation, accumulation of Phlegm
  • Alterations of Heart function (impulse), Liver (storage), Spleen (production)
  • Yin deficiency generates heat and condenses the blood

Of external origin

  • Trauma: vessel rupture generates hematoma and clots
  • External pathogenic energy: cold or cold+wind. It freezes movement.
  • External pathogenic energy: heat and fire extreme or heat in blood. The blood loses fluids, condenses and blocks.
  • External pathogenic energy: dampness, Phlegm. It turbids, thickens, slows. There will be edema and fluid retention.

Symptoms

  • Pain fixed, piercing, intense. The painful point can be pointed with the finger. The pain rejects pressure. It does not relieve with cold or heat.
  • Darker color in the affected area: hematoma, echymotic spots, purple lips
  • Clots in menstruation, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea
  • Tense pulse, rough pulse, changing pulse
  • Tongue purplish, congested sublingual veins
  • Masses can form, hard lumps, tumorations
  • Bleeding: when there is blood stasis, blood can escape from the obstructed vessels. The extravasated blood is dark and with clots.
