Slowing or blockage in blood circulation, the blood is thicker and more viscous and circulates with less fluidity. See: Blood
Causes
Of internal origin
- Deficiency of Qi or Yang, it lacks the impulse to move
- Deficiency of Blood, it lacks fluidity, liquid, it thickens and circulates with more difficulty.
- Obstructions from Qi stagnation, accumulation of Phlegm
- Alterations of Heart function (impulse), Liver (storage), Spleen (production)
- Yin deficiency generates heat and condenses the blood
Of external origin
- Trauma: vessel rupture generates hematoma and clots
- External pathogenic energy: cold or cold+wind. It freezes movement.
- External pathogenic energy: heat and fire extreme or heat in blood. The blood loses fluids, condenses and blocks.
- External pathogenic energy: dampness, Phlegm. It turbids, thickens, slows. There will be edema and fluid retention.
Symptoms
- Pain fixed, piercing, intense. The painful point can be pointed with the finger. The pain rejects pressure. It does not relieve with cold or heat.
- Darker color in the affected area: hematoma, echymotic spots, purple lips
- Clots in menstruation, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea
- Tense pulse, rough pulse, changing pulse
- Tongue purplish, congested sublingual veins
- Masses can form, hard lumps, tumorations
- Bleeding: when there is blood stasis, blood can escape from the obstructed vessels. The extravasated blood is dark and with clots.
